A house inside Cipayung, Eastern Jakarta, caught fire. The occupant of the house, Syaiful (40), died after protecting his wife and children.
The incident occurred in Cilangkap, Cipayung, East Jakarta on Wednesday (9/14) at 04:15 WIB. At first the occupants of the house woke up after smelling the smoke coming from the family room.
“(The smoke) comes from tables and sofas,” said Gatot Sulaeman, head of the operations section of the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Operations Subdepartment (Gulkarmat).

The occupants of the house, namely Syaiful, as well as his wife, Tiana (40), and their child, Saquile (6). The three were trapped in the house as the fire began to spread.
“The residents took the initiative to help the victim who was inside by breaking the window pane to enter the room, the owner of the house, Mr. Syaiful, was in a prone position to protect his son, Sultan Saquile Apparel. , and his wife, Tiana Migasari, ”added Gatot.
The three were rescued by the residents and taken to hospital, but unfortunately Syaiful’s life could not be saved.
“(Syaiful) died in the hospital,” Gatot continued.
Firefighters arrived on site at 04:25 WIB. However, by the time they arrived, the fire had been put out. The total loss is estimated at Rp 50 million.
“(The cause of the fire) was an electrical short in the family room,” added Gatot.
