House Fire in Lofoten: Police Operations Leader and Fire Brigade Provide Updates & Rescue Efforts

Operations leader Ruben Evjen in the police says to the Lofoten post office that they were first on the scene.

– It was mostly smoke when we arrived, but it quickly turned into flames, says Evjen.

He says that there was one person in the house when the fire broke out. The person who was in the house alerted the neighbors who came and got him out, says Evjen to the newspaper.

Operations manager in the Nordland police district, Yngvar Fredriksen, informs Nettavisen that there are three people who have inhaled some smoke which means that they were taken to the emergency department for a check-up. It is supposed to be the resident of the house and two neighbors who came to help

– It doesn’t look like the house is completely on fire, but there was a lot of fire in the entrance area and the roof. As of now, it looks like the fire service has good control of the fire, says the operations manager at 03:25.

According to Lofotposten The fire brigade got the fire under control after one hour.

– We are now carrying out post-extinguishing. We will be on duty at the site for a few more hours, says fire chief Ragnhild Sæbø in the Lofoten Fire and Rescue Service to the newspaper.
