Max Houma (USA) won the Genesis Invitational ($9.3 million in prize money) on the American Professional Golf (PGA) Tour.

In the final 4th round of the tournament held at Pacific Palisades’s Riviera Country Club (par 71, 7322 yards) on the 21st (Korean time) on the 21st (Korean time), Homa scored 5 under par 66 without seeing them.

Houma played an extended game with Tony Pinau (USA) with a 12-under-par 272 strokes in the final round of the regular round. And he recorded a par in the second hole in the extension, overtaking Pinau, who missed the far putt, and held the championship trophy in his arms.

Houma, who debuted on the 2014 PGA Tour, has experience at the top of the Wells Fargo Championship in May 2019. In mid-February, Houma, who was in good condition recently, winning a tie for 7th at Pebble Beach Pro-Am, eventually succeeded in winning the second time in his life.

Houma was one stroke behind Pinau until the 16th hole of the final round. However, on the 17th hole (par 5), he overcame the crisis of falling into the bunker, succeeded in a birdie, and took the lead.

In the last hole 18 (par 4), Homa had a chance. The second shot was placed about 1m away from the hole cup. However, Homa’s Buddy Putt returned from the hole cup and the match went into overtime. Extension was not easy.

Homa’s tee shot on the rough tree around the green on the first hole of the extension played on hole 10 (par 4). It was a crisis, but Homa calmly tried to approach and put the ball on the green. Buddy Putt missed it, but caught the wave.

The game was split in the second hole of the extra time. Homa succeeded in 1 on hole 14 (par 3) while Pinau fell into the bunker. Houma missed the Buddy Putt, but as Pinau’s Far Putt went out of the hole cup, Houma’s victory was confirmed.

Pinau also missed the championship right before his eyes. Since he won his first title in his life at the Puerto Rico Open in March 2016, he has been runner-up only eight times until this event. He won overtime at the Puerto Rico Open, but lost all three overtime.

World rankings 2nd place Yon Ram (Spain) tied for 5th with 7-under par 277, and Dustin Johnson (USA), the world’s No. 1, with 6 under par 278, tied for 8th. Jordan Spice (USA) tied for 15th place with 280 strokes under a 4 under par, and was unable to enter the top 10 in 3 consecutive competitions.

Korean players couldn’t get rid of the sluggishness even in the final round. Lee Gyeong-hoon (30, CJ Logistics) finished 66th with a total of 9 over par with 293 strokes, and Kang Seong-hoon (34, CJ Logistics) finished the competition in the lowest place (67th) among the players who passed the cut with a 10 over par 294.
