Hou Youyi attended the inauguration meeting of his joint campaign headquarters with Taipei City Legislator candidate Wang Hongwei today. Taipei Mayor Chiang Wanan, Taichung Mayor Lu Xiuyan, and former Kaohsiung Mayor Han Kuo-yu all showed up to support the campaign.

In his speech, Hou Youyi said that now he is running for president and vice-president of the Republic of China, but DPP presidential candidate Lai Ching-te, when he was the executive president in 2019, claimed that the constitution of the Republic of China affects the unity of Taiwan, so a new constitution must be formulated. The DPP Vice presidential candidate Xiao Meiqin also mentioned in an interview with foreign media that she no longer identifies with the Republic of China.

He said that the Republic of China is a sovereign and independent country.
