Hotels fully booked because of Adele: Stranded passengers in trouble

The Bavarian capital is currently the destination of tens of thousands of people because of Adele’s mega shows – and the hotels are apparently quite full. As a result, hundreds of passengers whose Lufthansa flights were cancelled in Munich on Saturday were initially left without a place to stay. They had to look for rooms on their own.

Passengers are upset

A Lufthansa spokeswoman said: “Due to a pop concert taking place in Munich today, all local hotels are fully booked, meaning that no overnight accommodation can be provided.”

A traveler who wanted to change planes in Munich to Los Angeles reported that the airline’s announcement caused great excitement among the passengers. “The service desk closed and left the people to their own devices.” They were also not given their luggage, so that they were now left without fresh clothes at the weekend – without knowing when they would be able to continue their journey.

Two large aircraft – and two large concerts

Two A380 planes bound for Los Angeles and Chicago were affected. They were unable to take off due to a “technical irregularity” or for “operational reasons,” Lufthansa said. Each plane has space for more than 500 people. At the same time, British superstar Adele gave concerts on Friday and Saturday evenings in the Bavarian capital, each with an audience of 73,000, many of whom had traveled from abroad.

It was not immediately known how many of the passengers were unable to find accommodation and had to resort to the blankets offered at the airport. Rooms were still available on internet platforms that evening.
