The hotels have repeatedly asked for planning security – it has been there since Sunday: the hotels are not allowed to receive guests again until the beginning of March at the earliest, and restaurants to serve guests again. Only a few hoteliers and operators would benefit from it, says the Vice President of the Austrian Hotel Association, Walter Veit.
“Of course – small businesses, pensions that do everything themselves – it’s worth it for them and they might still open up in March. But for the majority of the industry, the hotel industry, this winter is unfortunately over, sad as it is, although it never started, ”says Veit.
“That’s a slap in the face”
The gastronomy will also remain closed until further notice. Delivery and collection services are still allowed. The extension of the lockdown was foreseeable, but the disappointment is still great, says the Salzburg landlord spokesman, Ernst Pühringer: “The numbers were rather alarming. And we already knew it wasn’t going to be easy. But that March 1st is coming was a slap in the face.
In mid-February the government wants to weigh up again and decide when exactly the bars and hotels can open again.
