One million Bulgarians are packing their bags and leaving next week. Probably for Venice too. Tour operators report a boom in travel due to the many days off around Easter and St. George’s Day.
From the sea to the mountain. The resorts are ready to welcome hundreds of thousands of tourists for the holidays. Most vacationers choose the Black Sea, although it is still cool for a beach. Among the first tourists on the sea, we meet Bojana and her husband, who came on vacation from France.
They say that they choose Bulgaria because of the calm, the sea and the comfort.
Of the traveling Bulgarians, 850,000 choose to stay in our country, another 150,000 will spend the holidays abroad.
“About 300,000 will be the tourists in the country in various forms and places of accommodation. What is most in demand is spa and wellness. Accordingly, the hotels that are open along the Black Sea are looking for guest houses and villas,” said Rumen Draganov from the Institute for Analyzes and Evaluations in Tourism.
Hoteliers along the Black Sea are making a dress rehearsal before the summer season.
Over 70% of accommodation will open for the Easter holidays. They are ready, the preparations are going full steam ahead.
The industry indicates that prices at the beach start at 100-120 BGN per person per night. They report a slight price increase for all-inclusive packages, because food is the biggest part of the budget.
“It is expected that there will be a 10-15% increase in prices compared to last year,” adds Stanislav Stoyanov, vice-president of the Union of Hoteliers in Golden Sands.
But is the Bulgarian cheaper? The latest travel report from the British Post Office ranks our country in seventh place in terms of accessibility for tourists with a daily budget of BGN 143. Among the cheaper destinations are Japan, Portugal and Egypt.
“No one can find cheaper than Bulgaria”, emphasizes Draganov.
And to another recorded boom in tourism. More and more foreigners choose our country for vacation in the first week of May. As a reason, they highlight the different celebration of Easter from the Eastern Orthodox Christians.
