HotBlast technology enables transformers and switchgear to be cleaned in just 15 minutes – under full voltage and without the use of chemicals. The method uses dry ice, which is pressed into millimeter-thin pellets in a special machine and then sprayed onto the surfaces to be cleaned at a pressure of around 6 bar. This effectively removes dirt such as dust, cobwebs and other contaminants without having to shut down the systems.
In Norway, a large number of energy suppliers already use HotBlast cleaning technology, which has been on the market for over 15 years. The method meets the strict Norwegian safety standards. “Safety is our highest priority,” emphasizes Per Christian Olving, EU Sales Manager at Frost Kraftentreprenør. “Daily testing routines of the spray pipes and equipping the personnel carrying out the work with the latest protective equipment ensure reliable and safe operation.” The HotBlast technology has been tested and certified by the Norwegian research institute SINTEF for voltage classes up to Um 36/42 kV.
Future prospects
Frost Kraftentreprenør is optimistic about the introduction of HotBlast technology in the DACH region. “The DACH region offers enormous potential for our solution,” emphasizes Olving. “The very positive response from leading German energy providers clearly shows that the market is ready for our safe and efficient technology.” Frost continues to offer demonstrations to showcase the benefits of HotBlast technology. Interested companies can purchase the system directly from Frost.
