Fans of racing games — with a twist — get ready: how about turning your favorite toy cars into a game with mixed reality?
Well that’s what the Velan Studioscreators of Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit (only available on Nintendo Switch), have joined the Mattel to do. they will launch Hot Wheels: Rift Rally, which will combine real elements with the digital game (what we call mixed reality). Unlike Mario, however, this game will be available for iOS/iPadOS, PlayStation 4 e 5.
Do driftsstunts and race on a mixed reality track created by YOU with Hot Wheels Rift Rally!
With elements and dynamics similar to Mario’s game, Rift Rally will have a car equipped with a camera — which they called the Chameleon RC — and components for the player to create a track, such as portals or direction indicators.
Then, digitally, users will be able to control the car, which will move along the track created by the player, in a real environment. In addition to the individual mode, the game will feature a cooperative mode, including up to four players (who will also have the Chameleon RC cars) in the same room.
The car is called “chameleon” for a reason: digitally, it can be customized to transform into 140 variations, including Twin Mill, Bone Shaker, Mach Speeder, Gotta Go and more.
Hot Wheels: Rift Rally will be available on 14th Marchbut the pre-sale (in the United States) has already been released, with two editions: the standard one is costing US$130, including a Chameleon RC car, four mixed reality portals and a charging cable. The second, which costs US$150includes all the components of the standard, but with a collector’s edition Chameleon RC car, along with a limited edition McLaren Hot Wheels car and an unlockable McLaren Senna.
