This is what meteorologist on duty at the Meteorological Institute, Martin Granerød, told TA on Saturday afternoon.
– It is likely to be a hot week ahead now. Starting on Tuesday, we will end up between 25 and 30 degrees at the warmest. Wednesday is the day that stands out as the hottest of the week, says Granerød, who says that on Wednesday it can reach around 30 degrees.
Yellow hazard warning
– But there is great diurnal variation, and it will be down to nine degrees at night, says Granerød.
He says that the heat that is expected this week is short-lived, and that Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be the hottest days.
– So it will be a taste of high summer, and then the temperature will drop back down to what it is now, says Granerød.
He says that everyone in Telemark will be warm for the week, but that it will be a little colder in the coastal areas that are affected by the cold sea, in addition to high up in the mountains.
Granerød also points out that it is very dry and he warns against the risk of forest fires, since there has been little rainfall recently.
– That is why we have a yellow forest fire warning for the whole of Telemark, and it applies until there is rainfall, says Granerød.
Almost zero degrees at night
According to yr.no, it will be up to 25 degrees in Skien on Thursday 1 June, while it will drop to around 20 degrees during the day on Friday 2 June. Further up in the altitude it will be colder. At Haukeliseter in Vinje, it is reported to be 13 degrees Celsius and sunny on Wednesday 31 May, while it will drop to 10 degrees Celsius the following day. For Friday 2 June at Haukeliseter, temperatures are reported to be up to 11 degrees during the day and down to one plus degree at night.
