Today, June 7, around 14:00 local time (7:00 Moscow time), an accident occurred on a section of the main heat supply network near Lugovaya Square in Vladivostok. As a result, a stream of hot, rust-colored water flooded the square itself and the surrounding streets.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office of Primorye, several cars were damaged due to subsidence of the soil. The hot water supply to 146 residential blocks, in which more than 23,000 people live, was cut off, the supervisory agency said. The prosecutor’s office intends to immediately evaluate “the fulfillment of the requirements of the law in the maintenance, operation and maintenance of the networks”.
The City Hall of the capital of Primorye intends to provide assistance to the company JSC Far East Generating Company (DGC), in whose networks there was a breach. “The administration of Vladivostok will allocate equipment to help the GDC to liquidate the consequences of the accident in Lugovaya. The first task is to remove the cars and get down to liquidating the breach. The damage must be compensated by the resource supply organization at the expense of insurance funds,” the town hall said.
“There is a major breakdown in a section of the main heat pipe along the route in the Lugovaya area. Three work teams of the headquarters and five units of equipment have gone to the site and are working in the field. Experts will promptly assess the damage, after which the energy workers will begin their removal. The responsibility of the GDC for causing damage to third parties is insured,” the press service of the GDC reported.
It should be noted that in March of this year, a similar incident occurred in the same area of the city. Then, due to a break in the section of the heat pipe, about 30 thousand residents of Vladivostok were left without heating and hot water. According to local media, Lugovaya Square, adjacent to Ivanovskaya Street, was completely flooded with boiling water.
