Jakarta, CNNI Indonesia —
Singapore managed to beat Myanmar with a score of 3-2 in the match AFF Cup 2022 at Jalan Besar Stadium, Saturday (24/12).
Myanmar took a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute through Maung Maung Lwin. This objective was born out of a rapid counterattack scheme compiled by Myanmar.
Aung Kaung Mann, who received the ball in the center of the field, pushed towards the Singapore penalty area. He therefore chose to pass to the left side where Maung Maung Lwin was.
Maung pulled a trick that outwitted Shakir Hamzah before firing a shot at the far post.
Late in the first half, Singapore managed to equalize through Ilhan Fandi. Fandi was able to accommodate a mature cross which was released by Christopher van Huizen with a header.
The ball rolled into the goal without being able to be cleared by the Myanmar goalkeeper, Myo Min Latt. The 1-1 draw also decorates the end of the first half.
Singapore could take the lead in the 49th minute. Shah Shahiran managed to break through the door of Myanmar to give Singapore a 2-1 lead.
Shahiran fired a shot towards the top left corner of the Myanmar goal after receiving a pass from Hami Syahin. Myanmar goalkeeper, Myo Min Latt managed to reach the ball but could not stop the ball going into the goal.
Myanmar then managed to equalize with Maung’s second goal in the 66th minute. Maung took advantage of Singapore’s backline errors in throwing the ball. Maung Maung Lwin immediately fired a hard low shot which lodged in the right corner of the goal.
Eight minutes later, Singapore took a 3-2 lead again through Shawal Anuar. This goal came from goalkeeper Zaiful Nizam’s long-range kick that went straight into the Myanmar penalty area.
The Burmese defenders made a mistake as they could not block the incoming ball. Shawal Anuar immediately fired hard, preventing goalkeeper Myo Min Latt from moving.
Coming on in the 81st minute, Myanmar had to play with 10 men after Nanda Kyaw was hit with a direct red card. Despite playing with 10 people, Myanmar are trying to keep pressing Singapore.
Myanmar has threatened the port of Singapore several times. One of them was when Ye Yint Aung’s shot was slightly wide from the right side of the goal.
The 3-2 score for Singapore lasted until the end of the match.
