Hot from Buckingham! Charles with a big decision after the diagnosis – 2024-10-27 11:27:00

King Charles III has decided to resume his international tours after being diagnosed with cancer. This was made clear by a statement from Buckingham.

“The king’s cancer diagnosis will not prevent him from flying abroad next year,” a palace official said as the monarch wrapped up a tour of Australia and Samoa, AFP reported.

“We are currently working on a completely normal-looking program for full foreign tours for next year, which is a great success for us to know that we can think in this direction,” the official said, BGNES reports.

Earlier this year, Charles was diagnosed with an unexplained type of cancer, but doctors agreed he could stop treatment to allow him to travel to Australia and Samoa.

In April, the palace announced that he would return to public duties on a limited basis as doctors were “very encouraged” by his progress.

The official added that the king was “thriving” thanks to the tour’s program, which boosted his “spirits, spirits and recovery”.

“In that sense, the tour, despite its demands, was the perfect tonic,” he added.

The tour is Charles’ first to Australia, where he has also been head of state since becoming king following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022.

Charles and Queen Camilla departed Samoa on October 26 after a marathon 11-day tour during which the king had more than 30 engagements.

The royal couple visited Sydney, Canberra and the Samoan capital of Apia, where Charles attended a meeting of the Commonwealth of Nations.

The 56 countries – made up mostly of former British colonies – had hoped to focus on a future threatened by climate change, but instead clashed over a troubled past marked by slavery and colonisation.
