Nearly BGN 10 billion is the money of Bulgarians in investment funds in the country. This is according to the data of the BNB.
Household and business bank deposits in our country are over BGN 127 billion. Assets managed by local and foreign investment funds are over BGN 9 billion.
In recent years, one of the most preferred investments among Bulgarians is real estate and gold. Experts claim that investment deals in real estate in recent years are between 20 and 25%, bTV reported.
“Investing in property in the long term is low risk. Besides, the Bulgarian is a traditionalist. Unlike Westerners, we prefer to own our own home,” commented Ivaylo Mutsankiev, director of real estate sales.
In the first two months of this year alone, experts report a 15% increase in the number of transactions with precious metals compared to 2023. “It was a record year worldwide when it comes to gold investments. 2023, the trend in Bulgaria is maintained. The Bulgarians continued to buy and in very similar quantities. In contrast to us, the whole of Western Europe saw an extraordinary decline,” notes Max Baklayan, CEO of the largest precious metals trading company.
