Hostage resolution proposal rejected, US asks Qatar to expel Hamas

United States (AS) requested Qatar send the group out Hamaswhich has a political bureau in Doha, from its territory after the group rejected recent proposals for a ceasefire agreement and the release of hostages in Gaza Strip.

Qatar is a small country in the Arabian Gulf, as reported Reuters And Al ArabiyaSaturday (9/11/2024), has played a key role with the US and Egypt in a series of negotiations to make this happen quit in the Gaza Strip, which has yielded no results so far.

The last talks held in mid-October again failed to produce an agreement, with Hamas rejecting the proposal for a short-term ceasefire.

A senior US administration official, who asked not to be named, said US authorities had told Qatar that Hamas’ presence in Doha was no longer acceptable after the group continued to reject it.

“After rejecting several proposals to release hostages, the leaders of the group (Hamas-ed) should not be welcomed in the capital of any American partner,” he stressed high -US official in a statement Friday (8/11).

“We have made this clear to Qatar after Hamas rejected several weeks ago the proposal to release other hostages,” he said.

According to the senior US official, the Qatari authorities submitted the requests to the leaders of Hamas about 10 days ago.
