Due to the corona pandemic, the voluntary support services offered by the hospice association must immediately turn out differently than usual. The hospice association has to limit its offers, but wants to offer more support by phone, according to a press release.
Wolfgang Engert, chairman of the Würzburg Hospice Association, reports of a currently extremely difficult situation for people accompanied by the association as well as for volunteer hospice attendants.
Hospice attendants are currently not allowed to make any visits, including mourning accompaniment and the discussion groups of the hospice association mourning and comforting, orphaned parents, wish-free cannot currently take place because of the Corona Virus.
“Many of our volunteer hospice attendants have agreed to keep in touch by phone and in this way offer regular conversations. Many of our helpers are worried if these contacts break off. We want to be there,” says Tatjana Kapp, coordinator of the hospice association. Counseling on issues with palliative care content continues to be offered as well. These also only take place by phone.
The Würzburg Hospice Association can be reached by telephone on Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. (931) 53344. Outside of office hours, an answering machine answers the call.
