Hospiten has launched a therapeutic help service that helps combat gynecological atrophy using hyaluronic acid. It is a pioneering technique that provides a solution to the side effects that many women suffer as a result of cancer treatments and between which the appearance of a precocious menopause, atrophy or premature aging of the genitals is included.

The deputy physician of the Gynecology and Obstetrics Service of the Hospital Universitario Hospiten Rambla, María Dolores Pérez-Jaraíz, explains that, due to the hormonal therapies used in most cancer treatments such as breast, ovary and uterus, “symptoms such as vaginal dryness, burning or itching may appear which, in addition to having an impact on the daily life of women , they can also cause discomfort in sexual relations ”. For this reason, Hospiten have decided “to offer a pioneering service for these patients with the aim of improving their quality of life.”

Pérez-Jaraíz highlights that this technique is recommended, especially, for young patients with breast cancer and premature aging due to hormonal blockage due to pharmacological treatments, or for those who have undergone gynecological radiotherapy and have a change and / or atrophy in genitalia that prevents them from leading a normal life. Likewise, women who have had non-gynecological tumors and who have developed early menopause may also benefit.

The Hospiten Gynecology and Obstetrics team explains that it is a simple process that can be performed in the consultation itself in sessions of approximately 15 minutes. The results can last between six months and a year, “although there are patients who are administered this treatment and they improve so much that they do not have to return,” he says.

Although the use of hyaluronic acid in clinical practice has proven quite effective in recent years, its relative novelty implies that nowadays studies continue to expand the data that support the usefulness of this technique.

Grupo Hospiten is an international health network committed to providing the highest quality service, with more than 50 years of experience, which has twenty private medical-hospital centers in Spain, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica and Panama, and more than one hundred outpatient medical centers, owned and associated under the brand Clinic Assist. EIt is chaired by Dr. Pedro Luis Cobiella and attends more than 1,900,000 patients from all over the world annually, and has a staff of more than 5,000 people.
