Hospitals scale up security through visitor aggression | Inland

This is evident from a survey by the NU’91 professional association among 1200 employees and a tour of BNR along various hospitals.

A quarter of the staff indicate that they also experience physical violence. “Sometimes it goes very far. From swearing and threats to pushing, kicking and hitting ”, says team leader Michel van Erp of NU’91. “Security has been scaled up in some institutions.”

The survey shows that visitors have difficulty adhering to the mouth cap obligation and keeping their distance. “The healthcare staff will talk to you about this within the hospital walls. And that regularly meets with resistance and provokes aggression. ”

The interest group hopes that hospitals will protect their employees, and that misbehavior of visitors will be tackled firmly by the law. Van Erp: “We hope that healthcare staff will continue to speak out against this violence. Any form of aggression towards this group is completely inadmissible. ”
