hospitalizations in intensive care up sharply in Lyon

It is still too early to feel the effects of the third confinement. The health situation continues to deteriorate in Lyon hospitals, according to figures released on Tuesday by the HCL.

These are now 477 people who are hospitalized in Lyon, or 54 more in seven days. The third wave is also hitting the sheave services, where 25 additional beds have been opened. To date, 124 patients have been admitted to critical care (+27 in one week). The service is now 95.3% occupied, including 61.1% of patients with Covid-19.

According to the HCL, 13.6% of emergency room visits were related to the virus this week. Emergency calls for symptoms related to the disease edged up to 18.2% (vs. 17.8% seven days ago).

Finally, the positivity rate, which had significantly increased last week, has stabilized. This Tuesday it reached 10.85% at HCL.

These figures are published while a new confinement has started everywhere in France in order to curb the effects of the third wave. Inter-regional travel is prohibited until May 2, and schools will not reopen until April 26.
