Hospital staff receive an incentive premium of 985 euros

The federal government will award an exceptional incentive bonus of 985 euros to hospital staff this year. Minister of Health Frank Vandenbroucke announced this.

The 985 euros gross applies to those who work full-time (from September to the end of November) and will be paid before 31 December. An adjusted amount is provided for those who do not work full-time.

The measure, for which the Council of Ministers gave the green light last week, will cost the treasury 200 million euros.

The incentive bonus is in addition to the agreement with the social partners to provide structural and sustainable investments in higher wages and better working conditions for all healthcare personnel. ‘This incentive bonus is earned by all those men and women in our hospitals for the exceptional efforts they put in during the second wave,’ says

Vandenbroucke (SP.A). “Not because they ask for it, but because they deserve it now that they keep our country straight for the second time.”

After all, according to Vandenbroucke, this second wave of covid requires ‘superhuman efforts and complete dedication from our hospital staff’. ‘These exceptional efforts should not only be recognized, but also encouraged,’ said the minister.

The government also decided to extend the consumption check to all federal health workers.

The vouchers can be used until the end of 2021 in the hospitality, sports and culture sector or in retail.

Finally, the social agreement was also signed on Thursday, worth 600 million euros, which will make structural and sustainable investments concrete in the entire federal health care sector in the course of next year: this means in the first place a revaluation of the profession through wages and better working conditions.
