“Currently, the emergency department of the hospital center of Ploermel is experiencing strong activity. We remind you that it is necessary to call 15 before going to an emergency department, ”clarified the communication department of the Brocéliande Atlantique Hospital Group (GHBA). The reason for this recall: congestion, which could be avoided.
In sight: the “Bobology”requiring this reminder: “Emergency services are intended to take charge first, and as a priority, vital emergencies which require an immediate response in terms of medical care and resources”.
Valerie Jeanne, deputy director of the GHBA, at the head of the hospital Center Alphonse-Guerin of Ploermel, urges to better uses. By recalling in particular, outside the opening hours of medical practices, the existence of the medical center on duty.
But the deputy director also sees, in this situation, “the consequence of the medical desertification ».
More and more people find themselves without a doctor. A phenomenon “favoring” this too systematized recourse to emergencies, even when the state of health does not necessarily justify it.
To this phenomenon of over-mobilized emergencies, Valérie Jeanne recalls that on average “there is 4 SMUR outputs (mobile emergency and resuscitation structures) by night “. And that a visit to the emergency room when it is not necessary unnecessarily lengthens the treatment times.
