The Luau General Hospital, with more than 100 beds, will be opened in December this year, the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, informed this Saturday in the region.
The hospital infrastructure cost three billion 955 million and 746 thousand kwanzas, within the scope of the priorities of the Integrated Municipal Intervention Program (PIIM).
The new health unit, located in an area of 25 thousand 597, 92 square meters, will have 42 inpatient rooms, 30 in pediatrics, emergency (21) and maternity (15), as well as 12 medical offices.
The new hospital will also include six waiting rooms, three laboratories for biochemical analysis, blood analysis and other rapid tests, an equal number of triage shares, a morgue, with a capacity of nine places, an incinerator and other services.
With the opening of this large hospital, the province of Moxico now has 158 health units.
Sílvia Lutucuta said that the health unit will also serve as a school to train specialists in various areas, especially family medicine.
“We will have many new features in this health unit, such as the quality oxygen factory, morgue, housing for healthcare professionals and other hospital reference areas”, highlighted the minister.
This is a General Hospital that will serve not only the province of Moxico, but also the provinces of Lunda Sul and Lunda Norte.
For the government official, the specialized services that the hospital will have will discourage people from going to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Zambia in search of medical assistance.
