The Association of Indonesian Hospitals (Persi) spoke about the accusations that the hospitalCOVID– it’s the patient. Persi emphasized that there are strict rules for diagnosing COVID-19 patients.
“There are very strong rules for when a patient is determined or diagnosed as a COVID. Hospitals must attach a lot of supporting documents to convey that this is COVID,” said Secretary General of Persi, Lia G Partakusuma, in a virtual press conference, Sunday (20/6/2021).
Lia also asked the public to trust the hospital. He stressed, doctors will definitely treat according to the patient’s condition.
“So the public should not feel that if the diagnosis of COVID-19 will definitely be claimed by the hospital as a COVID patient. Yes, of course we urge both of us to put their trust, that of course the doctor will treat according to the patient’s condition,” he said.
Lia explained that the diagnosis of COVID-19 does take time. Corona virus, he continued, also takes time to develop in the human body. Therefore, sometimes patients who previously claimed to be healthy suddenly tested positive for Corona.
“There was one problem at the beginning, the diagnostics took a long time. Some were quick diagnostics at large hospitals or those whose labs had complete facilities, so they could be diagnosed in one day. Some took days,” he explained.
“What is called a lab examination depends on the individual. So it’s not like one person is tested negative today, then one week later it’s negative. There is even a process where the virus takes time. There may be symptoms but the diagnostic tools haven’t detected it. Many “Things that can cause this diagnostic result to have one drawback, there is a deficiency that may not have been discovered at that time but was discovered at another time,” continued Lia.
Lia also considered that COVID-19 patients were only the actions of individuals. He asked the public not to justify the hospital.
“Term meng-COVID-I think the patient is an individual. We never want any hospital to have COVID. It is hoped that none of the hospitals would want to do that to COVID. Therefore, it is not good and the impact is very bad for hospitals throughout Indonesia. Even if there are for example, then generalizing 3,000 hospitals as the same thing is also not true,” he said.
