The number of patients admitted to hospital with Covid continues to fall and has fallen below the 100 per day mark.

This is shown on Saturday from the most recent figures from health institute Sciensano. The number of new infections also decreased between 19 and 25 May compared to the seven days before and fell below the mark of 2,000 per day.
Between May 22 and May 28, an average of 94.4 people with Covid were hospitalized each day. That is a decrease of 26 percent compared to the previous week. There are still 1,291 patients (-19 percent) in hospital, of whom 469 are in the intensive care unit (-13 percent).
During the same period, an average of 17.1 people died from the effects of Covid every day. That is a decrease of more than 14 percent on a weekly basis. Since the start of the pandemic, 24,910 Belgians have died as a result of infection with the corona virus.
Between 19 and 25 May, an average of 1,982 new infections were registered every day. That’s an 8 percent drop on a weekly basis. The positivity ratio is currently 5.1 percent.
