No to the privatization of the Rapallo hospital
The dramatic Covid emergency has made the situation of healthcare in Liguria and in the Genoese reality and in the Golfo Paradiso / Tigullio even more evident.
Serious are the dysfunctions in our territory that feed the concerns present among the population, starting from the most disadvantaged and weaker classes.
For years now, the Toti-led regional administration has pursued a policy of weakening and attacking the public system of protecting the health of citizens.
Examples are the collapse of the Emergency Department, the dizzying increase in
extra-regional mobility with a growing financial hemorrhage of the Accounts
Ligurian healthcare and consequent regional imbalance, the marginalization of basic medicine and territorial facilities
All this increases the inefficiency in the management of the Ligurian Health.
To pay for the effects of this irresponsibility and incapacity are, in the first place, the citizens, the weaker and older sections of the population.
Unfortunately, we have under our eyes the propaganda and electoral management of the Covid pandemic (up to the denial of its exponents), the tampons, the non-existent home care, the drama of intensive care, the dramatic underestimation of the pandemic itself equated to a simple disease.
In this situation, the Regional Council of President Toti decides to
privatize the Rapallo hospital, a recently built structure, built with the money of the Community, with convenient logistical access from all over the
territory of the Golfo Paradiso and Tigullio which replaces the previous hospitals
Territorial decommissioned from their functions.
In addition to the damage of the private removal of this fundamental structure
to public health care, we add the mockery of the handing over to the Private and its profit logic of a hospital built with public money!
It is universally recognized that in the Covid Pandemic, which unfortunately has cost the country up to now over 78,000 deaths, suffering and grief in families (the highest number in Europe) and with the sad primacy of the Northern Regions (Piedmont, Liguria, Lombardy, Veneto) the fundamental cause was the privatization of hospitals, the practice of dismantling medicine and territorial aids that left citizens alone, tampons in the very important and very early stages of the disease and then in the hospital ICU response.
It is urgent and necessary to mobilize citizens, political and social forces, territorial institutions, municipalities, personalities of culture, medical science, civil and religious solidarity of all our territory without distinction of any kind.
Strategic objectives such as:
1) the effective public management of the entire hospital of Rapallo, placed at the service of all the inhabitants of Golfo Paradiso, as promised after the closure of Sant’Antonio di Recco;
2) the realization of the first nursing home (nursing home)
level of the Sanitary Plexus Sant’Antonio di Recco, for the clinical stabilization of the patient once the acute phase is over, as well as any subsequent rehabilitation;
3) the establishment of the First Intervention Point at the Recco facility which, while not configuring the assistance complexity (DEA), is capable of providing emergency and urgent services;
4) extension and upgrading of integrated home care,
the increase in the number of nurses together with the relaunch of social and health services in a logic of integration between hospital and local medicine.
For these reasons we propose the establishment of a permanent coordination committee for the defense of the hospital of Rapallo and the reform of territorial health against privatization and surrender to private individuals, which nullify the universal and public character of Citizen Health, a constitutionally guaranteed right of public protection.
We do not want to find ourselves as in the Italian motorway system
