Hoshi suffers from Ménière’s disease, which notably causes discomfort and nausea. “Sometimes violent attacks of dizziness occur in the middle of the night. I must then stop everything and lie down, ”she illustrates. Its pathology also causes tinnitus and hearing loss. Hoshi says that despite six operations, she has already lost 47% of her hearing ability.
No treatment
To manage her life as an artist despite this handicap, the singer complies with certain conditions: “no more than two concerts per week”, she specifies. Despite these precautions, she knows her deafness will only get worse over time. But for the moment, it is not for her to draw a line on the scene.
Hoshi has suffered from this invisible disease since the age of six. Ménière’s disease is caused by an imbalance in the pressure of fluids in the inner ear. Disease also unrecognized and incurable: “No treatment exists, no drug is effective”, she adds.
