Horror Traffic Jam since Merak Toll Gate, Car Barely Moves

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Severe traffic jam happened from the Merak toll gate to the entrance gate Peacock Harbor on Wednesday (27/4) morning. Hundreds of vehicles could not move for hours when they were about to enter the port.

One of the travelers, Ari Astriawan, said that there was a 7 km traffic jam at the entrance to Merak Harbor. His vehicle could not move for three hours.

“It’s been jammed since the peacock toll gate until port 3 hours (distance about 7 km). Barely moving,” said Aris, Wednesday (27/4).

He told me that he had left in the early hours of the morning to avoid traffic jams. However, his efforts were fruitless. He’s still stuck in traffic.

“Accidentally at 4 in the morning from home let no got stuck, even permanent just. If on the toll road smoothly. But as soon as I exited the toll road, there was a traffic jam,” he said.

Currently he claims to have made it to the port. However, he had to go back in line to check tickets. He said the ticket check line was no less long.

Fortunately, he said, there was a dispensation for passengers who came not according to the scheduled departure because they were stuck in traffic.

“Now Already check in ticket, but queue again before boarding the ship. It almost didn’t work, it just walked a little and kept stopping,” he said.

“There is a dispensation, the ticket is not forfeited even though it is past the port entry schedule,” he added.

Another traveler, Deden, said that there was a traffic jam along 4 km at the entrance to Merak Harbor this morning.

“The first traffic jam was at the entrance to the Merak port, the traffic jam was 4 km, and all of the cars were waiting to enter the ship,” said Deden on his twitter account @dedenhdn, Wednesday (27/4).

Deden said that he would go home by ship. The departure schedule is at 18.00 WIB.

With the accumulation of homecomers at Merak Harbor, he was worried that he would not be able to depart according to the initial schedule.

“And all of those cars are waiting to get on the ship, so if the ship isn’t there, huh? ngetem Let’s go first,” he said.

Message new boat ticket got 6 p.m., don’t know what will happen next,” he added.

According to him, going home this year was as usual, before Indonesia was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Honestly this real vibes like commuting era before the pandemic, even though it will be a long journey but I’m super excitedhe said.

A number of residents also complained about the condition to PT ASDP Indonesia Persero via social media accounts. One of them, the owner of the twitter account @yasmin_shahab.

“@asdp191 already stuck to Merak Harbor more than 2 hours,” Yasmin tweeted on Wednesday (27/4).

Yasmin is also confused because her departure schedule has been missed. He should have departed from Merak Harbor at 09.00 WIB. However, until 9.28 WIB, the vehicle he was riding could not move and enter the port.

“Though estimates maps it was only half an hour until the port, want resched ticket at 9 already can’t,” he said.

He also asked PT ASDP Indonesia Persero to provide solutions to travelers whose tickets have expired due to the paralysis of the homecoming route.

“Please make a ticket wise solution expired gegara no walk more than 2 hours!” he said.

Merak Harbor, Cilegon City, Banten, was invaded by travelers using private vehicles on D-5 Lebaran, Wednesday (27/4). It was observed that the entire wharf was filled with vehicles.

Queues of vehicles can also be seen at the entrance to the Merak Port ticket check

“Tonight Merak Harbor is lively by early travelers. I and the Chief of Police are at Merak Harbor,” said Head of Traffic at Cilegon Police, AKP Yusuf Dwi Atmodjo.
