Horror! There are Unexpected Sightings during an annular solar eclipse

Suara.com – NASA just shared an unexpected picture, that is the shadow of the Moon moment Ring Solar Eclipse occurred on June 10, 2021.

The creepy-looking Moon shadow portrait was taken by Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC) aboard NOAA’s Deep Space Climate Observatory.

Given that the Moon is much closer to Earth, the Moon’s shadow was caught on camera as EPIC tried to capture an image of Earth.

“Taking pictures of the sunlit half of the Earth, from a distance four times farther than the Moon’s orbit, never ceases to surprise us,” said Adam Szabo, project scientist on the DSCOVR team in a NASA release.

Launched in 2015, EPIC has now imaged multiple shadows of the eclipse across Earth’s surface.

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon moves between the Earth and the Sun, causing the Sun to appear like a circle of fire around the Moon’s black silhouette.

The solar eclipse on June 10 was partially visible in parts of the United States, Asia, Europe and the Caribbean.

The portrait captured by EPIC captures the brownish-black atumbra of the Moon’s shadow over Earth’s North Pole.

Reported from Gizmodo, Monday (26/7/2021), EPIC usually image the Earth to study the climate and provide information to experts about clouds, vegetation and ozone.

If observers miss the annular solar eclipse, the next phenomenon can be witnessed in 2023.
