Number of members drug cartel gunmen killed nine people in a bar in Guanajuato state, Mexico half. According to local officials, the attack was carried out by a drug cartel.
As reported AFPFriday (11/11/2022), the attack also resulted in the wounding of two people, which occurred around 21:00 local time on Wednesday evening in the municipality of Apaseo el Alto.
Local authorities said an armed drug cartel gang in a truck arrived at the Lexus bar and opened fire on those inside, killing five men and four women.
Guanajuato is an industrialized nation and the region has seen frequent clashes between the Jalisco New Generation and the Santa Rosa de Lima drug cartel.
Local media said the attack was revenge for Tuesday’s arrest of Juan Rodolfo Yepez, a Santa Rosa de Lima leader.
The authorities asked witnesses to testify anonymously. Such attacks are common in Mexico and often go unpunished.
Hours before the attack, 18 vehicles were set ablaze in the area around Apaseo el Alto. More than 2,100 murders were recorded in Guanajuato, a state of 6 million people, between January and August, according to government data.
