Horror message to students: – UiO shuts down

After Oslo shut down earlier tonight came the message many students fear: Dagbladet could around 23 o’clock tell that the University of Oslo is now closing down completely.

The doors are locked, and reading rooms and libraries are completely closed from lunchtime tomorrow.

This is confirmed in an email sent to the students in Oslo late Monday night.

– The infection situation is now so serious in Oslo and Viken that we unfortunately have to close reading rooms, libraries and buildings for students from kl. 12.00 Tuesday 16 March. The teaching is given digitally, it says in the email sent from the management at the university.

The email is signed Svein Stølen, Rector of UiO.

Recently opened

The library at Blindern has been open recently, and some teaching has taken place physically, in small groups.

As of 18 February, reading rooms and other buildings where students can work have been open. Large lectures have not taken place physically for a long time.

On Monday 1 March, teaching was opened at UiO, and thus only two weeks later the university is forced to retreat.

Oslo-lockdown

Earlier today, it became clear that all-digital teaching will be introduced for upper secondary schools and upper secondary schools throughout Oslo.

All kindergartens and activity schools will be closed during the Easter week, and a home school will be introduced for 5th-7th grade. steps at all schools in the districts Grorud, Stovner, Alna, Bjerke, Gamle Oslo, Grünerløkka and Søndre Nordstrand.

It may be relevant to introduce all-digital teaching for this age group at other schools or in other districts if the local infection situation so dictates.
