Horror crash in Leogang kills three

A collision between a car and an empty bus occurred on Saturday morning on Hochkönig Straße (B164) between Leogang (Pinzgau) and Hochfilzen (Tyrol, Kitzbühel district). Two people died at the scene of the accident, the driver of the car succumbed to his injuries a little later in the hospital.

A 25-year-old driver from Hungary drove his car on the B164 towards Leogang, with him in the vehicle were two Hungarian women aged 29 and 36, according to the police. For an unknown reason, he may have lost control of the vehicle on the snow-covered road and then crashed head-on into an oncoming bus.

Bus threatens to crash after collision

The 51-year-old local bus driver tried to swerve but was unable to prevent a collision. The bus came to a standstill on the steep road shoulder and threatened to crash, the car came to a standstill on the side of the road, badly damaged. The occupants were trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed by firefighters.

The driver of the car succumbed to injuries in the hospital

The emergency services could only determine the death of the two women, the driver was flown by the rescue helicopter to the accident hospital in Salzburg. He succumbed to his serious injuries there. The bus driver suffered injuries of an unspecified degree in the accident and was taken to the Tauern Clinic in Zell am See after first aid. There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the accident.
