Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Indian Ministry of Health has just released the latest data on Covid-19. On Sunday (2/1/2021) India reported 27,553 new Covid-19 infections over the past 24 hours. This was noted because the infection with the Omicron type of COVID-19 variant continues to increase.
India’s Ministry of Health also released that the death toll from COVID-19 rose by 284, bringing the total death toll to 481,770. India has recorded a total of 34.88 million COVID-19 infections since the pandemic began.
Not just India, China reported 191 confirmed cases of coronavirus on January 1. Of the new infections, 131 were transmitted locally, according to a National Health Commission statement, down from 175 the day before.
Most of the new local cases are in the northwestern province of Shaanxi. Meanwhile, the capital city of Xian has been under lockdown in an effort to contain the spread of the disease. Zhejiang and Henan provinces also reported new cases.
China reported 52 new asymptomatic cases, which are classified separately from confirmed cases, compared with 38 the previous day.
There were no new deaths, leaving the death toll unchanged at 4,636. Mainland China had 102,505 confirmed cases as of the end of January 1.
