Hundreds of cars were involved in a rear-end collision on a highway in Zhengzhou, China. One person is said to have died as a result of the horrific accident.
Reported AFP extension, Wednesday (28/12/2022), the accident occurred due to poor visibility due to fog near Zhengzhou city, Henan province. At least mentioned the accident involved at least 200 vehicles.
Aerial photos show just how chaotic the pile-up was. The viral video shows the wrecked cars.
“Fog suddenly appeared on the Yellow River Bridge in Zhengzhou on Wednesday morning, which caused a traffic accident involving several vehicles colliding,” Zhengzhou authorities were quoted by CCTV as saying, adding that one person died of consequence.
Emergency rescue efforts were carried out soon after the crash and the crash site is currently being cleared to allow traffic to return to normal, the report said.
Traffic accidents are common in China due to the lack of strict safety checks. In September, 27 passengers died after a bus taking them to a quarantine facility in the southwestern province of Guizhou overturned on a highway.
