A woman was raped when two invaders broke into her home in Brooklyn (NYC).
The rapist and his accomplice broke into the Sunset Park home around 6 pm on Saturday and assaulted the 49-year-old woman. One of them raped her before they both fled, the NYPD said.
The victim was rushed to hospital local, where he was in stable condition, reported New York Post. It is not clear whether the invaders also caused material losses. NYPD published photos of the suspects in search of their capture.
Both were described as being in their 30s and between 5 feet 9 and 6 feet tall, the department said. According to data from the New York police, rapes are down citywide this year compared to 2022with 1,401 reported as of December 17, a drop of almost 11% compared to the same time last year, when 1,572 were reported.
But the statistics show a slight jump last week compared to the same last year: 25 reports between December 11 and 17, compared to 23 in 2022.
In a similar case of invasion, last week a mother and her 5-year-old girl were injured when they were beaten by robbers who invaded their home in Staten Island (NYC) in the early hours of the morning.
In the middle of this month, a Latino resident of Groveland (Florida) was extradited to New Yorkwhere he was detained without bail as a suspect in two rapes that occurred in 2000 and 2001 in Manhattan and the Bronx.
Also that month, a former worker at a state residential facility for teenage girls on Long Island (NY) admitted to raping one of them several times after giving her marijuana edibles.
In November, a young woman was sexually assaulted and robbed at knifepoint in the building where she worked in Brooklyn. In June, a Hispanic resident of Ohio was extradited to New Jersey on suspicion of sexually assaulting two minors several times while he was visiting that state.
