A Japanese man who worked in the Japanese Army’s Unit 731, which carried out biological experiments in World War II, returned to Harbin, China, after 79 years, and expressed his intention to apologize to the people who suffered.

Hideo Shimizu, a 94-year-old Japanese man, was the person who visited Unit 731 and apologized.
In 1945, when he was 14 years old, he applied to be a child soldier and was assigned to Unit 731 in Harbin, where he saw firsthand the results of vivisection experiments on the son of the a person

After returning to his homeland after Japan’s defeat in August of that year, he remained silent for decades, but since 2016, he has been at the forefront of exposing Japan’s war crimes.
And finally, he returned to Harbin after 79 years and confessed the existence of Unit 731 and the atrocities, becoming living proof of war crimes.
Unit 731 is where Japan conducted human experiments to make biological weapons during World War II, and 200,000 to 300,000 people, including Koreans, Chinese and Soviets, are known to have been sacrificed.

Shimizu said now all he can do is pray for the victims.
