Horners: “Teams make their pilots complain publicly”: F1LV Blog

Red Bull boss Christian Horner believes that rival teams, most notably Mercedes, are making their pilots openly complain about the problem of shaking cars in order to change the technical rules. He admits that shaking can be easily prevented by any team, but that would affect speed.

The Baku route is not only one of the fastest, but also the most uneven in the whole calendar, and the problem of shaking was pronounced here. Louis Hamilton complained especially about thatwho got out of the car after the finish with obvious difficulties, but was not the only one who expressed concern.

Discussions have recently begun on whether changes should be made to the technical rules to prevent machines from shaking at high speeds. However, not all teams have this nuance, so Horners believes that the change would be unfair to those units that have been able to prevent shaking, thus not losing competitiveness.

“The easiest way is to lift the car,” says Horner. “It simply came to our notice then. No one is ever forced to drive a car that is unsafe. This is more of a job for technical staff, as some machines have this problem, while others have less of a problem. It would be wrong to change the rules to penalize teams that have done their job properly until others have achieved this goal. ”

The Red Bull boss also commented on what he would do if Max Verstapen and Sergio Peres had the same problems as Hamilton and George Russell from Mercedes. He admits that rival teams are causing their pilots to publicly express dissatisfaction, including safety concerns, to draw the FIA’s attention.

“Of course it is,” he says. “I would make my pilots swear by the radio and make it as big a problem as possible. It’s part of the game. You see, they are not comfortable driving. There are ways to fix this, but it will affect performance. This makes it easier to complain and call for safety. If it was a safety issue that affected everyone, it would have to be taken into account, but if it only affects individual teams, then they have to deal with it themselves. ”
