It was a special day for Renault. After years of waiting and trying to get on the podium, we finally succeeded today. Daniel Ricciardo was able to take third place after Valtteri Bottas had dropped out and was thus on the podium with Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.
At the end of the afternoon, Renault celebrated a party in the motorhome, where, as usual, a team photo was taken with the whole team. After the photo, the group went back to work or to the motorhome and Helmut Marko and Christian Horner of Red Bull wanted to use it.
Red Bull wants Renault engines
This is somewhat remarkable, as it is an almost unwritten rule that teams do not walk into the motorhome together unless necessary. Yet this overt and public flirtation of Horner and Marko cannot be otherwise seen as a rapprochement to keep options open and re-establish relationship with Renault so that it can get Renault engines by 2022.
Helmut Marko apparently enjoys taking a picture with brand new Renault CEO Luca de Meo, while Renault team boss Cyril Abiteboul and Renault Sport president Jerome Stoll watch.
