The distinctive, bare-chested man who wore a fur hat and carried a spear during Wednesday’s riot at the U.S. Capitol building has been arrested on federal charges.
Jacob Anthony Chansley, who goes by Jake Angeli, was arrested on Saturday as law enforcement in many parts of the United States continues to round up those involved in the storming of the US Congress building.
The heavily tattooed man quickly became a symbol of the chaos unfolding in Washington, DC, even as the siege continued as he went viral around the world for his extravagant outfit.
Angeli was seen confronted by a police officer and posing in the chair of the President of the United States Senate. His role in the riot led him to face charges of knowingly entering or staying in a building or restricted land without legal permission, while also being charged with violent entry and disorderly conduct on the grounds from the Capitol.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia offered an interesting description of Angeli in a statement about the charges he faces.

“It is alleged that Chansley was identified as the man seen in media coverage who entered the Capitol building dressed in horns, a bearskin headdress, red, white and blue makeup, shirtless and beige pants ”. It said.
This individual carried a spear, about 6 feet in length, with an American flag attached just below the blade.
The Arizona native is a voice actor and a minor celebrity in his home state. He is a follower of the QAnon conspiracy theory, calling himself a “QAnon shaman,” and has played a leading role in pro-Trump and anti-lockdown rallies in recent years.
After strolling out of the Capitol, Angeli took the time to send a message to the Venezuelan people, telling them “You can also take back your country. “
“You can end communism and globalism. You too can take your nation back from this evil. You can reconquer your country, Venezuela ”. he proclaimed.
This follows the arrest of several protesters involved in the riot, including Adam Johnson, who went viral for happily disturbing President Nancy Pelosi’s lectern, and Richard Barnett, who was photographed sitting at a desk in Pelosi’s office in the middle of the pandemonium.
