Beaten on Tuesday evening in its rink by Nice in overtime (5-6), Hormadi remains in last place in the Ligue Magnus rankings.
The game begins immediately with a numerical inferiority for the Niçois, in White and Black. For two minutes, the Angloys, in Black and Pink, took up space in the axis of goalkeeper Nikita Bespalov’s cage. The main danger is on his left side where Dunn and Ranger will often try their chances from afar, without success. The desire is Basque but now it is thwarted from the start by the inevitable Russian attacker, Evguenii Nikiforov (0-1, 5th) who deceives St-Cyr with a cross shot.
A few minutes later, the Hormadi players, outnumbered for slashing, saw Sautereau increase the score (0-2, 9th) four against four. The audience at La Barre believes they are seeing the beginning of another nightmare scenario. In the Bespalov area, a small scuffle took place just before, without consequences.
Prolongation fatale
A minute later, Bouvet, helped by Rousseau and Getson, reduced the score (1-2, 10th). The Niçois, full of opportunism, still took the lead at the end of the first third. The second is indeed that of all hopes and… rightly so. Four minutes after the whistle, Vincent Deslauriers equalized (2-2, 24th) on a nice delivery from Doyle, omnipresent on the restart. This moment is foundational for Hormadi who regains faith in his hockey when Nice retreats and counts on its goalkeeper to resist.
The offensive influence is clear. From left to right, the throws follow each other at full power. Reinhardt’s puck hits the upright, a shiver runs through the supporters. Possession is balanced, St-Cyr is manhandled. Both teams are outnumbered and Louis Belisle, mischievous, gives Nice the advantage (2-3, 32nd). The end of the third is Angloye but the Niçois are on the counter.
From the start of the last third, in double inferiority, the locals turned their backs. In the space of one minute 30, three goals were scored, Nice leading (3-5, 48’52). Puffer allows Anglet to get back on track (4-5, 54th), extra time seems within reach and Doyle will achieve the feat of equalizing (5-5, 59th). Three against three, Kopta puts an end to the Basque dream (5-6, 64th).
