“Horizon Zero Dawn Universe to Expand with Aloy’s Next Adventure and Multiplayer Spin-Off Games”

Guerrilla Games has confirmed that fans of the “Horizon Zero Dawn” universe will be thrilled to know that multiple upcoming games are in development. The studio has announced that Aloy’s “next adventure” is already in the works, and fans can expect to be part of an expanded universe that includes a multiplayer spin-off as well. The studio’s announcement accompanied an internal re-organization at PlayStation that saw Angie Smets, a founding member of the studio, get promoted to Head of Development Strategy at PlayStation Studios. The studio expressed its confidence in the new leadership team and their commitment to expanding the world of Horizon with Aloy’s next adventure and an exciting online project.

Unlike the “God of War” reboot, which was turned into a two-game story arc by Sony Santa Monica, last year’s “Horizon Forbidden West” ended on a cliffhanger. All signs pointed to a third and final game, though it wasn’t clear if it was the studio’s top priority. However, Guerrilla Games has confirmed that a sequel could arrive sooner than later as it continues to invest in the Horizon universe. “Forbidden West” already has a paid DLC called “Burning Shores,” which arrived on April 19, and a PS VR2 spin-off called “Call of the Mountain” launched in February. Recently, early build footage of the upcoming online multiplayer game “Horizon” also leaked.

Although Sony has not yet shared the sales numbers for “Forbidden West,” it is evident that the company remains fully invested in the franchise by promoting two of Guerrilla’s directors to its senior ranks. The acquisition of Firewalk Studios last week and the company’s push towards live-service games mean that Sony has more studios and projects to manage than ever before. Regardless, fans are eagerly awaiting Aloy’s next adventure, though no one knows when it will finally arrive. It is safe to say that it will likely coincide with the release of “Elden Ring 2.”
