Horizon Zero Dawn launched at 72p on 2014 graphics card

Video blogger zWORMz Gaming test Horizon Zero Dawn on a GeForce GT710 card from 2014. In order to achieve acceptable smoothness, he had to reduce the resolution of the game to 72p, which gave the Guerrilla Games adventure a peculiar atmosphere.

The GeForce GT710 has 2GB of DDR3 memory. Running Horizon Zero Dawn on it with ultra settings and 1080p resolution, the game ran at 2-3 FPS. Lowering the settings to the minimum did not help, the author of the material achieved an average of 6 frames per second.

Further, the blogger gradually reduces the resolution of the game, remaining at the minimum graphics settings. At 720p, he got about 8 frames per second, which allowed him to have his first successful fight. Going down to 360p, the game broke the magic barrier of 10 frames per second.

At 144p, Horizon Zero Dawn looked like a PS1 project, but ran at almost 20 FPS. The author thought this was not enough, and he decided to check at 72p – the frequency increased to 30, but it looked like the version for the Game Boy Advance.

With such a resolution, it is difficult to clearly see even the figure of Aloy in the center of the screen, she merges with the surrounding world. But a little effort and you can read the inscriptions, for example, on obelisks. It is enough to stand behind the object so that the camera is next to the letters.
