Horizon Zero Dawn Gets First PC Patch To Fix Some Issues

The first post-launch patch for the PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn is here.

Guerrilla Games has just released a new update for Horizon zero dawn on PC, one week after the game was released.

The PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn, to say the least, has been disappointing. From unexplained performance issues on powerful systems to bizarre bugs and omissions, the port has frustrated many of those who chose to participate in the launch. Guerrilla Games has since confirmed that it is aware of all the reports, and today’s patch is the first of many.

Patch 1.01, available now on Steam and the Epic Games Store, doesn’t actually bring as many fixes. However, it fixes the bug that prevented focus (slow motion) from activating for some players, despite having the ability. There is also a bug fix related to the Steam UI.

Outside of that, the rest of the fixes are for various “backend issues” as well as a video corruption error that occurred on certain system settings. See the full changelog below.

Crash / crash fixes

Fixed an issue where the game would crash if SteamUI did not initialize properly at startup.

Fixed a video corruption issue for specific hardware. We will continue to discuss other hardware configurations as well.

More interesting than the patch notes themselves is the new list of known issues, which joins the existing set of known issues that Guerrilla outlined at launch.

The updated list includes 4K resolution issues, broken anisotropic filtering, GPU-caused stutters, and various other performance issues on specific GPUs. Here are the new items on the list.

Some players are experiencing startup crashes. Patch 1.01 fixes some of these bugs, but not all.
Some gamers experience GPU related crashes during gameplay. The improved diagnostic data collection added in patch 1.01 is intended to make it easier to locate.
Some players are experiencing graphical configuration issues, such as anisotropic filtering not working, 4K not displaying properly, or HDR not working properly.
Some players experience performance issues on specific hardware or GPU combinations.

“This is a small initial patch; note that we are already working on the next one. Thanks for your patience and understanding! Guerrilla said, promising another patch next week
