“My albums are always about the concept of silence,” says American neoclassical pianist Lawson. “I invite people to take a moment to find themselves again.” This also applies to his new album “Where We Are”.
The 49-year-old Lawson from North Carolina is one of those musicians who manage to generate enormous streaming numbers on iTunes and Spotify – because his approach to conveying piano music and classical compositions works without major barriers. Whether with his own pieces or with bold interpretations of Bach and Chopin, some of which he distorts using electronic means – there is something for many people. If you like the calm, flowing piano atmospheres of Ludovico Einaudi, Hania Rani or Nils Frahm, Chad Lawson’s “Where We Are” is our Hörbar tip for you today.
Other guests at the Hörbar are the French sibling combo Les Ogres de Barback, the Frankfurt songwriter Fee. and the Swedish folk musician Ulrika Bodén.
