Diario Co Latino Shows
Hopscotch They will carry out their first international tour from February 23 to 29, 2024, traveling to the country of El Salvador, where they will visit six different cultural spaces, including the Spain Cultural Center and the Teatro Presidente in the capital, San Salvador.
During their concerts, they will be presenting the project If memory sounded, an interdisciplinary piece made up of fifteen photographs by the artist Germán Romero set to live music. Each photograph has its own sound world that invites us to imagine other narratives and meanings around the diversity of experiences, characters, memories and sounds of the Historic Center of Mexico City. All compositions are originals of the ensemble.
Hopscotch is a collective of composers-performers of current music with the common goal of creating new conceptions of contemporary music through collaboration. It is made up of Meni Louit (clarinet), Carlos Amas (trombone), Jesús Moreno (piano), Juan Sámano (drums), Darío González (bass) and Pedro Pablo Núñez (flute).
The game, as a creative concept, permeates the way of composing as well as the unique and flexible instrumentation of the ensemble. Their sound is impregnated with an omnivorous influence of expression that ranges from rock and jazz to contemporary classical music.
Hopscotch has been presented in spaces such as the Roberto Cantoral Room and the ZunZun Cultural Center. In 2022 they inaugurated the II INBAL Contemporary Music Marathon and were selected to participate in the accompaniment program of Piso 16 – UNAM Cultural Initiatives Laboratory. They recently presented their first EP “Urbe y lumbre” in the jazz cycle of the Tamayo Museum and at the Teatro de las Artes of the National Center for the Arts. They have collaborated with artists such as Germán Romero and the Batahola and Arrecife theater companies.
This tour is carried out with the support of Ibermúsicas and the System of Support for Creation and Cultural Projects.
