HopLunch: Revolutionizing the Business Delivery Market with Free, No Minimum Order Office Delivery

By specializing in office delivery of dishes from selected local restaurants, with no delivery fees and no minimum order, HopLunch is shaking up the codes of the business delivery market. Already present in Strasbourg and Metz, the startup created by Matthieu Diebold has just arrived in Lille with, for the moment, 8 restaurants in its portfolio and is preparing to raise funds.

Created in 2018 by Matthieu Diebold, HopLunch has just opened its 3rd subsidiary in Lille with two corporate catering professionals at the helm, Thomas Deboudt and Guillaume Webert. Following the model of the two branches already opened in Strasbourg in 2018 and Metz in 2021, and which between them total nearly 35 restaurants in the portfolio which cover most themes, the new location opened at the end of last August, intends to rely on the same resources to conquer businesses in business zones on the urban outskirts. We are talking about the areas of Wasquehal, Croix and Villeneuve d’Ascq. The idea is to be the “logistics and delivery” link between traditional restaurateurs and corporate customers waiting for alternatives to local offers which often lack diversity. For this time, HopLunch has listed 8 restaurants, among others Maboule (specialized in meatballs), La Boccaccia (Italian), Thai Street Food (Thai), Ono Loa Poke (poké Bowl/Salad), Myra (Lebanese caterer), Akira (Japanese)… and presents, every day on its platform, 1 daily special from each of the restaurateurs, at a fixed price, identical to that charged in partner establishments. All the customer has to do is select their meal, schedule their delivery day and time and have it delivered with no minimum order and delivery fees.

Advanced logistics and environmental commitment

By ordering up to 5 days in advance, customers can have it delivered between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on the day, and put together a basket, in several restaurants at the same time. Hoplunch will collect all dishes ordered the same morning in all restaurants, hot or cold. It centralizes them on its platform, before redistributing them to companies with a fleet of electric scooters and permanent delivery people. “ By paying the same price as in the restaurant and with free service, customers have a real advantage in going through us“, we explain to the health of the startup which pools the costs and has negotiated upstream, the prices with the restaurateurs from whom it buys all the dishes. A form of reverse commission which is not supported by the customers and is less painful for restaurateurs than the usual delivery platforms. With a turnover of €1.26 million achieved last year, HopLunch, which counts among its shareholders and specialized consultant, Sébastien Chapalain, ex-boss of Class’croute and expert of delivery, intends to spread throughout France, and in particular in Lyon, Bordeaux and Nantes. It should also be able to count on new financial leverage following fundraising currently being finalized.
