Hopla: Samsung Galaxy S21 is now also receiving the Android 14 update

Ai, things are going fast now: the update with Android 14 and One UI 6 is now also rolling out on the Samsung Galaxy S21 series. Earlier today it also arrived on the Galaxy A53 and on the Galaxy Z Flip/Fold 5.

Galaxy S21 update: Android 14 en One UI 6

Any appearance that Samsung is rolling out the Android 14 and One UI 6 upgrade slower than Android 13 last year has disappeared after today. Samsung is now rapidly updating all kinds of popular Galaxy phones and tablets. After several other devices were updated today, the update is now also starting for the Galaxy S21 series.

A download of approximately 2.3 to 2.4 GB brings the devices to firmware version G99*BXXU9FWK2. The phones already had the November patch, so the new upgrade is all about Android 14 and One UI 6.

We see all the innovations that we know from the Galaxy S23 and S22. Think of the new Quick panel and the One UI 6 font. There are also improvements for the Weatherwidget and app, it Lock screenand new widgets and options for the Camera. In addition, there are more options to keep security in order, and your phone will learn a new ‘Multi-touch trick’. Check out many more innovations in One UI 6 for yourself.

Keep in mind: this is a major upgrade and will take some time to process. And above all, it can take a while for the software to optimize itself again after installation. Keep in mind that your battery will drain a little faster in the hours after the upgrade. This eventually normalizes again and is therefore not a bug.

Availability

At the time of writing, the Android 14 upgrade is already rolling out on the unbranded Galaxy S21 and S21+ in the Netherlands and Belgium. This also applies to the branded S21 and S21+ from Vodafone. On the Galaxy S21 Ultra he will undoubtedly follow soon – hopefully later today – but not yet it is now also available.

The Galaxy S21 FE will receive the same upgrade at a different time. According to Samsung’s own schedule, this will happen in December, although this also applied to the other S21 models that have already received it.

As usual, you can wait for the automatic update notification. Or you can immediately check manually whether you can already obtain the upgrade via Settings -> Software update -> Download and install.
