Hope to see you again in the 1st League – Dresden

In 1991/92, Klaus Allofs stormed for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga against Dynamo and won, now he returned to the Rudolf Harbig Stadium as manager of Fortuna Düsseldorf and lost 2-0 in the first round of the DFB Cup. A deserved success for Dresden?

It was a very clear case. We didn’t get off to a good start and could have been further behind before half-time. I arrived here full of hope, after all we had successfully started the second division season with a win and a draw.

After the break, your team had a brief better phase…

Sure, if the score was 1:1, the game might have turned. But after that, Dynamo dominated again and could have beaten us more clearly. A really strong performance, which underlines that the team is not at the top of the 3rd division by chance.

What do you say about the atmosphere?

The atmosphere is fantastic! Everyone is wearing yellow and there is loud support, not just from the fan block. This is a factor that Dynamo will be able to exploit during the season.

In contrast to the previous year, promotion was not officially declared as a goal…

Nevertheless, it has to happen, if only from an economic point of view. It is still a mystery to me how Dresden squandered their huge lead in the spring. The players have certainly learned their lesson from this experience, and it will not happen again. Dynamo belongs further up the table. But so do we. I hope we see each other again in the 1st Bundesliga.

You are also a racehorse owner and have taken a look at the track in Seidnitz. What is your impression?

This atmosphere is wonderful, this nostalgic touch, the historic grandstand. I know that the city supports the track, and the mayor is a galloping fan. A lot depends on that when it comes to support. Incidentally, I have a 100 percent win rate, and a few years ago I had just one starter here – and he won. Maybe it will work out to do a race again sometime.
