It is almost 50 years since the hit Hooked On A Feeling was released by Blue Swede and Björn Skifs. From Friday, January 28, the song can be listened to remixed in spatial sound at Apple Music. Björn Skifs and Bengt Palmers celebrate the new experience.
One of the first songs that put Sweden on the international music map was Hooked On A Feeling with Blue Swede and Björn Skifs. Now the song has been remixed in Dolby Atmos, and is available to listen to via Apple Music.
Björn Skifs and the producer of the song, Bengt Palmers, says:
– How to achieve this, we do not have a swell about, and if we are to summarize the listening experience in two words, it will be “Totally amazing!
Bengt Palmers continues:
– While a standard stereo mix provides a left / right experience, this mix creates an incredibly fascinating three-dimensional room experience. I have had the good fortune and privilege to hear the mix of Björn and Ble Sweden’s version of “Hooked on a feeling”, where the initial Ooga-Chaka choir is heard left / right while – when Björn starts singing the first verse – it sounds like he is standing “In front of the choir”, ie much closer to the listener.
Dolby Atmos has been around for a while, but was launched on Apple Music in the summer of 2021, and has proven very popular. To date, 40 million subscribers have listened to the music converted to spatial sound, and the consumption of spatial sound increased in the autumn 20 times faster than ordinary compressed sound.
Matt Boerum and Alan JS is behind the new mix of Hooked On A Feeling, and they comment on the release:
