Hooded men who took part in a LGBTI rally against the homophobic attack against two transgender people in Thessaloniki, disapproved of the president of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance Stefanos Kasselakis.
The scene of tension occurred when o Stefanos Kasselakis was coming to the Documentary Festival hosted at the “Olympion” cinema to watch Babis Makridis’ documentary Unclickable which is shown as part of the 26th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival.
Specifically, a group of masked men arrived at the entrance of the “Olympion” in the center of Thessaloniki and booed Stefanos Kasselakis with the president of SYRIZA managing to get inside the cinema.
The hoodlums called him “trash” and called him an “oppressor”.
A few minutes later, the same group of hooded men attacked the police officer at the entrance to the cinema. Specifically, one of them hit him in the face with the helmet he was holding.
The hooded men managed to grab the policeman’s ration. A rapid intervention vehicle of the EKAB rushed to “Olympion” to provide first aid to the policeman. The injured police officer will be transferred for precautionary reasons to 424 GSNE.
Mr. Kasselakis arrived at the junction of Tsimiski and Aristotelous and walked to Olympian, accompanied by the president of the Parliamentary Group of SYRIZA-PS, Sokratis Famello, the MPs Katerina Notopoulou, Kyriaki Malama, Petro Pappa, the former Spokesperson, Dora Augeri and party officials.
At least 16 arrests, 13 of them against homophobes who attacked the body of the march
