Honorary hedge and torches at the funeral Arie den Dekker in Oss

About 250 people in Oss said goodbye to Arie den Dekker with a guard of honor and burning torches. He set himself on fire at the town hall last Monday because he was not given housing for himself and his dogs in Oss. He felt let down by the municipality and the judiciary.

Den Dekker’s funeral is in private this afternoon. That is why the idea arose for the honorary hedge at the town hall, reports Broadcasting Brabant.

Den Dekker, 54, reported to the police in 2018 as a witness to a liquidation. After that he was seriously threatened. His house was burned down twice and he entered a witness protection program, which ended last spring.

No expense spared

The mayor of Oss, Wobine Buijs-Glaudemans, said earlier that the municipality has spared “no expense” to help the homeless Den Dekker, but to no avail. “We do set limits on behavior.”

Den Dekker previously threw shit all over himself at the door of the town hall and he threw in fish. The municipality said it did not want to reward such behavior. There is a independent research to the case announced. It is not yet known exactly how this will take shape and who will implement it.
